Snowboarding Season Begins

Our local ski resort opened today so we headed up this afternoon for a couple hours. Luckily that is all it was because it ways FA-REEZING!! Our car thermometer read 24 degrees when we got there. Not to mention it was windy and the wind was blowing the snow off the trees and there was a huge cloud hanging over so visibility wasn't the best. We actually thought about scratching the whole idea and coming home. Then we saw our friends, Josh and Tisha, pull in so we went for it. Everyone had a lot of fun and did pretty well for the first time out this season. I think our total time on the slopes was an hour but I am already sore. Man, I'm out of shape! No pictures this time cause that would have meant taking my hands out of my gloves! Maybe later. Can't wait till next time. So much fun!!

Decorating the Tree

So, we finally got our Christmas tree on Sunday when we got back from Disneyland. We went to the lot here in town and they had only 3 trees (the kind and size that I like) to choose from. Lucky for us, all 3 of them were pretty decent and we voted on the one we liked best, paid for it, and were back home in no time. The kids did most of the work. I was taking pictures in between blogging and cleaning up broken ornaments.

Each year they get to pick our their own special ornament and then when they pack up and leave home, they can take them with them so they can have something for their first tree. It becomes a big deal for them and it is very important that each child hangs his/her own ornaments on the tree.

A Week at Disneyland.................

is a very long week!! We went for 6 days last week. We were supposed to go for 5 days but because of Ali being in the parade, we stayed an extra day. We drove down last Sunday and spent some time with my mother-in-law who lives nearby. We went to dinner to some Japanese restaurant. Monday we got up and went into the park.

We left early that night and went to the Rain Forest Cafe for dinner. We love it there and go every year. Although, we go for the atmosphere......the food is nothing to get excited about!

Tuesday we headed back to Disneyland for more fun and excitement.

We left the park early again and went out to dinner with the mom-in-law. Another Japanese restaurant. This time, our family's favorite, Tokyo Hibachi. They have the best food and the kids love watching them cook right at our table.

My family had a little too much fun playing with Buddha.

Wednesday we went back to the park once again. This was our day to stay late and watch the parade and fireworks. The fireworks started and then they stopped them due to winds at higher elevations. We were bummed. Their fireworks are awesome. They shoot them off so that they match the Christmas music playing.

Ali's favorite Pixie Hollow Fairy, Silvermist.
Thursday, we went to Chip and Dale's character breakfast. The kids saw a whole bunch of characters from Brother Bear, Pocahontas, and Tarzan. They come around to your table and visit with you while you eat. It was fun! Then we went to Disney California for the day. Left early and went back to the hotel to find that our car had a dead battery. (We had been walking to and from Disney all week) We were supposed to go to the Japanese store but instead Dave's mom had to come to us and give our car a jump. The kids swam while we waited. Then we went to Outback for dinner. It was a compromise. I was done with Japanese (can't stand fish, even the smell of it) but Mie had to go somewhere that served fish or chicken since she doesn't eat meat.
Friday we went to Disneyland AGAIN! Actually we went to Disney CA. for a couple hours in the morning first. Dave insisted on seeing the fireworks so we stayed late again. Even the kids were done. But my husband is a die hard and insisted that we were at Disneyland and had to squeeze in as much as possible. I thought we had done more than our fair share of squeezing!

Before the fireworks, we went to build-a-bear workshop. I wanted to get my mom a bear (she collects bears) as a thank you for taking care of our house and animals while we were gone. The kids had gotten some Christmas money from their grandma and they wanted to spend it on a bear. Dave was not happy about that since they have so many stuffed animals already.
We were all exhausted after Friday. Saturday was Ali's big day and you know how that went cause I already blogged it! One good thing about staying for so long is that we can leave early and sleep in since we're not in a hurry. And we spent a lot of time with Dave's mom since we don't see her that often. That was nice. But needless to say, by Friday and especially Saturday, I was ready to come home. I really don't think that Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, not even close, but I guess it's a catchy slogan.

Dance the Magic

Ali's dance studio danced in the Disneyland Parade this past Saturday. It was pretty special for her because her and her "dance BFF", Ella, were the youngest ones invited by her dance teacher. The other girls were all 10 or older. It just happened to fall next to our annual Disneyland vacation so we just had to extend our trip by a day. There were about 15 dance groups performing in the parade. They all had different costumes but were doing the same routine. Ali had a blast and looked absolutely adorable! (Not that I'm biased or anything :))

She loved being in the parade and hanging out backstage at Disney. And we were very proud of her, too! It was a great experience.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

That was the theme for today! (Believe it or not, Marcie and I happened to come up with the same title on our own, separately) This was also the same song that Ali danced to in the Disneyland parade this weekend. The kids were so excited to wake up to snow and find that school was canceled. I let them sleep in since they were up late last night (trying to finish that pesky homework from missing a week of school!). They were so eager to get out and play in the snow that they skipped breakfast and got dressed and headed outside.

Our neighbor, Pam, started a snowball fight with Spencer but then his sisters came to his defense and she soon surrendered.
I went out long enough to take pictures and came back inside by the fire. I prefer snow from a distance.....unless I'm strapped to a snowboard, then it's okay. The kids stayed our for a few hours. They were still out playing when the Bushlings snuck up on them and started a snowball fight. Tanessa came and woke me up (yes, I was enjoying a nap by the fire) and I went out to find Marcie and the kids and snow flying! Then Tayah and Trey stayed over for the afternoon. The kids drank hot cocoa, watched Christmas movies, and played games. They had a great time being together since they had not seen eachother in over a week. I was surprised how much snow we got here and we're all hoping for more tonight. Another snow day wouldn't be so bad......

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!!!
